Gratuitous iPhone post

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

A completely gratuitous post to test posting from my iPhone… And it works!

Small changes

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Right, so I’ve deleted the “photo album” effect, and, does it look better?  Somewhat? Maybe?  A little?  But it means I’ve ended up with white text on a black background, which I’ve always hated!  aaargh!

I’ve kept the “popup” (highslide) effect on the photos themselves, mainly because I can’t be arsed to do any coding to change it right now.  And this blog needs altering… ah the joys of procrastination.

Let’s Be Critical

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Well today I look at this website, and realise there’s a lot that’s wrong.  This blog doesn’t look right – there’s not enough room, or at least it doesn’t look that way.  As for the photos, the “photo album” layout doesn’t really work either.  And what is it about highslide (that’s the ‘click to zoom’ effect on the photos) ?  You think it’s great, but maybe, erm… it isn’t.  I think what’s wrong is that you have to click twice for one image.  And the white text on the black background is also wrong.

Jeez – nothing seems right this morning!

Apple iPad .. I Don’t Think So, Not Yet

Apple iPad

Apple iPad

Pretty unimpressed with Apple’s new iPad, at least in this its first incarnation.  I can see that touch screens are going to be popular in the future, but this first offering has me wondering.

How do you prop it up to look at it?  A laptop lid is open, and what’s more, you can close it, to protect it.  As you can a book.  And a book you can just fling down anywhere, without worrying about smashing expensive electronics.   And you can only run one app at a time?  And no camera?

I get the impression that a hands-on experience makes one more inclined to like it, I guess because it’s like a behemoth of an iPhone.

But right now, Apple fanboi that I am, I have no urgent desire to buy.  Sorry, Steve.

Glastonbury Magic Rises Again!

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

Well, here we go! I’m resurrecting the Glastonbury Magic website, after having moved servers and, er… inadvertently deleted the lot.  So, some major parts are missing!

Fortunately much of the code still survives in the bowels of various places, but it will still be a while before the rest is up.

Only some of the photos are up so far.  What do you think of them?  (“Rubbish!”)

So folks, stay tooned, for further exciting announcements (yawn)…
